Life Cycle Analysis of Biohydrogen Production in Photosynthesis Processes
Hydrogen Production Technologies: 3rd World Congress of Young Scientists on Hydrogen Energy Systems 2009

The outcome of biohydrogen from photosynthesis processes is still small, however different development methods and laboratory studies are carried out to increase the yield and meanwhile addressing the influence to the environment and climate change. Life cycle analysis gives the possibility to compare different biohydrogen production approaches using different photosynthesis methods. Inventory analysis and the results of different researchers in this field allowed to find values of selected ecoindicators for the evaluating biohydrogen production efficiency and to select initial data for life cycle analysis. Some this ecoindicators weight the resources needed for biohydrogen prodution, like for example, the specific consumption of water used in all three cases. In this paper are presented the results of life cycle analysis, which play an important role for the development of photosynthesis methods, forecast of implementation of ideas, basics for evaluation of policy documents in different countries, which is based on calculations and analysis of effects to environment, human health, socioeconomic factors and climate changes.
