The individual protection system of a combat soldier has great influence on his combat and surviving abilities. It means that this equipment has to be modern and suitable for war conditions. The comfort and durability of the equipment and ability to adjust the equipment to different missions must not be forgotten. The individual protection equipment of a combat soldier is an undivided system where each element has its meaning and place and where each element is connected with other elements of the system. Every kind of military equipment is always in the state of development and improvement. When equipping the soldiers, responsible persons must keep track of newest developments in different fields. The researchers of National Armed Forces of Latvia, Riga Technical University and manufacturer as well have brought their attention to load bearing armour system, currently used in National Armed Forces of Latvia. They have researched system’s possible imperfections and ways of developing the system. After studying the used load bearing armour systems, the acquired data have been analyzed and possible improvements have been suggested. Load bearing armour system shows great results of durability and vitality in long term wearing and keeping all quality data in acceptable level. The results of the research can be looked up and used for comparison when estimating new load bearing armour systems before purchasing will be compared with etalon used in mentioned research
