Marina Platonova

Over the last few years, there has been a significant increase in the number of publications on environmental and ecological problems in English and Latvian. These publications focus on professional aspects and demand a high level of terminological proficiency. Therefore, the role of a detailed environment-related terminology analysis and classification cannot be overestimated. The aim of the present article is to consider one of the approaches to special lexis classification in the source language (English). The author of the article proposes a classification of special meaning categories in the environment-related fields and analyses some of them in relation to translation studies.
