With Internet Online Search Operations Related Electro Energy Consumption at Riga Technical University

Global energy amount for providing telecommunication services is very huge, and it is estimated that nowadays telecommunication networks utilize about 2% of the world's total electricity consumption. Part of the energy consumption for the Internet's functioning is caused directly by information search operations' activities. Authors found that in RTU, search operations on average consume 37.7 kWh of electricity per day, that is equivalent to 25.10 kg of CO2 emissions.
