Optical Fiber Types and Utilization in Transmission Systems

Nowadays optical fibers have experienced rapid growth and become more used in telecommunications. In this work authors make a research of optical fiber types and utilization in fiber optical transmission systems. There are made computer simulations of fiber optical transmission systems using several well-known manufacturers’ optical fibers with different parameters, transmission speeds and light source powers. As a result analyses of received optical signals quality are made, and concluded that at high transmission power impact of nonlinear optical effects can be observed.
