Trimethylsilyl 2-methylprop-2-ene-1-sulfinate as a new derivatization reagent can be used in derivatization of various monosaccharides: D(+)-glucose, D(+)-mannose, D(+)-galactose and their mixtures. Obtained persilylated sugars can be used in GC-MS analysis. Per-O-silylated sugars is useful for synthesis of C-allyl glycosides.
