The main problem of machines and mechanisms failure in most cases is unacceptable wear. Protective coatings are the most prospective solution for problems of wear and function. In comparison with various lubricants, protective coatings are more reliable and durable due to their better adhesiveness. The paper describes an experimental analysis of the application of a multilayer coating of titanium nitride (TiN), and intermetallic of titanium copper (TiCu) on steel surface in different media. The results of the treated element were obtained and compared to the initial state.
