Doctoral thesis has been dedicated for synthesis technology development of active photocatalists in semiconductor oxide systems ZnO-WO3 and Bi2O3-WO3 as well as evaluation of photocatalytic ability of prepared photocatalysts by degradation organic compounds has been discussed. The thesis consists of literature review about significance and actuality in environmental technology development. The processes and the basic principles of photocatalysis have been discussed including the parameters for photocatalysis. In the overview of the literature, information regarding the period of time from 1972 to 2013 is summarized about oxide systems ZnO-WO3 and Bi2O3-WO3, the photocatalyst obtaining and of modification for improving the photocatalytic properties. The description of synthesis technologies and analysis of product has been given in experimental part. The methodology for photocatalyst efficiency has been described. The characterization of used technologies (sol-gel, microwave, hydrothermal synthesis and molten salt synthesis) and advantages and disadvantages for obtaining single-phase compound have been discussed in the result section. The relationship of synthesis parameters (pressure, synthesis time, pH, temperature) on product has been studied. The photocatalytic activity has been analysed for obtained products. Photocatalysis has been assessed in different aspects including the specific surface area, crystallite size, pH, and morphology and light source. The final part of the results section is described of degradation product analysis of methylene blue dye. It is concluded that using obtained tungstate photocatalysts, the degradation process of methylene blue proceeds to SO42-, NO3-, NH4+ ion formation.
