The article examines the impact of economic activity on the population’s income and welfare. Economic activity in the regions is described by means of GDP indicators, GDP structure, characterization of economically active statistical units and unemployment level. The study shows considerable disparities between the regions, which, in their turn, affect the welfare of the population.
