This paper presents the use of a direct and inverse approach for estimation of Young’s modulus for glass panel specimens. The brittleness of glass particularly annealed and tempered ones are of great concern in physical testing therefore a non-destructive testing has been considered as well. A specific concern is devoted to assess the effect of edge trimming and finishing for developing of the design reliability criteria. A direct testing method involve EN 1288-3:2001 standard for 4-point bending test and ASTM E756-05 for modal testing of the same samples. Both methods show relatively high correlation therefore NDT could be evaluated further for real scale structures.
