The theory is about career development according to the succession and combination of various roles in a lifetime. The determinant of a person’s professional route in the career development theory is their understanding of own personality. Thus, the aim of the article is to reveal the most important career development conditions in secondary and tertiary education. The research is based on the genesis of the career education term, and it formulates the main career components: real-life and professional experience, person’s future prospective, and conscious professional development.
