The thesis describes the approach that allows to follow (and analyze) the learner's activities during the use of computer-aided design systems (CAD), gives an insight into the range of problems, the topicality of the research, lays out the purpose and tasks of the study, describes theoretical and practical results and describes approbation of the system elaborated. Computer aided design training and its aspects are described and analyzed in the paper. It looks at a traditional and technology-supported learning process aimed at analyses of teaching CAD and provision of knowledge assessment, as well as identification of problems in the CAD system training process. It was concluded that technology-supported learning process would contribute to solving these problems. The study examines intelligent tutoring systems, their structure and implementation, discusses modules of intelligent tutoring systems with the aim of understanding the use of such systems in the training. An analysis allows setting requirements for the intelligent tutoring system in the CAD system training. As the main problem in the use of CAD systems and in the assessment of learner’s results, there is an identifiable lack of information about the learner’s actions during execution of his/her tasks. Since an instructor issues an assignment, a student executes it and submits the result then the instructor acquires information only about the results of the learner's work, but not about the process itself. It is difficult (even impossible) for him to analyze the efficiency of the work performed – compliance of the tools/ functions used for the execution of the task, the sequence of the process, and its practicability. Based on the study carried out, approaches for assessment of the use of computer-assisted design systems were offered for implementation within the framework of the study. Implementation of this approach in the intelligent tutoring system was given, describing it by specifying system requirements, architecture, modules, database and approach for implementation. The created system allows solving assessment problems of the use of CAD systems: an expert is being informed about activities of the learner during the execution of the tasks, that is, the process of task completion. The results and conclusions of the study are summarized in the final section of the paper. Thesis includes 4 chapters, introduction, and conclusions, the glossaries of explanations and abbreviations, as well as a list of images and tables are included. The main part of the dissertation contains 142 pages, 152 pages with appendixes included, 54 figures and 6 tables, 4 appendixes and bibliography which include 130 sources.
