Supply of fuel and electricity is determinant for development of power industry and wherewith economic development of the country. The power industry has to develop in the way it can provide sustainable, qualitative, secure power supply, considering environment protection requirements. To be able to plan long-term power industry development, it is necessary to make up various scenarios and evaluate the effect of their implementation. The paper includes analysis of current situation in Latvia. Several possible development scenarios have been developed and their effect on electricity and fuel market has been simulated.
