Illite is one of the most important clay minerals. Illite politype research has developed only in recent past, because of technical opportunities. There is still not one universal sample preparation method for polytype analysis. In this study some of the most popular chemical reagents for sample fractionation was analyzed, their influence on mineral composition and XRD spectra quality. Than XRD data collecting parameters were studied to obtain not textured and intensive enough spectra.
