Necessity of the national atlas of Latvia was expressed at first part of XX century, after Second World War about such cartographic work could not to remind. After renewal of Latvia sovereignty necessity of the national atlas fixed at the official documents but at reality creating of atlas not started. Although different maps and atlases are published in Latvia. The article analyses structure of the national atlas and recommended such parts: history of Latvia, Gulf of Riga and Baltic sea, nature and mineral resources, population, economy, historical and cultural inheritance, economic regions, foreign relations of Latvia – trade and diplomacy. Maps of the atlas can be to add by new statistic and index of the geographic names. National atlas of Latvia must to create at paper and electronic versions. The article describe sequence of creating of the national atlas though to provide for quality of such work. National atlas is essential element of presentation of an any country and neighbour countries of Latvia published or create such atlases.
