The promotion paper is dedicated to the solution of the topical problem of modern tourism ⎯ transfer from a strictly packaged travel to a flexible individual travel. For the solution of this problem, the paper develops the theoretical and methodological basis for the design of a tourist information system which is different from the existing with the application of multi-criteria analysis methods to the selection of an individual travel. The paper studies the multi-criteria analysis methods, makes classification thereof, and chooses concrete solution methods of the task set; makes an analysis of the selected methods and refines the methodological differences which characterize the opportunities for the application thereof. It develops the model of the travel choice task, determines the methods of the evaluation of alternatives, develops the methodology of research of the decision sensitivity. While developing the informational maintenance for the travel choice task ⎯ the regional tourist information system, the methods of system designing are supplemented with a new approach of system decomposing on the basis of IT implementation factors, which is necessary for the currently developed information system of public access. The complex classification of the information system designing methods is offered to simplify the choice of the designing method. The practical applicability of the research results is proved by the solution of the individual travel choice task and by research of the solution sensitivity. The developed method of tourism information system with the mechanism of the individual travel choice extends the functionality of the tourism information system and contributes to the increase of competitiveness in the tourism business.
