Optical Radiation Source-To-Fibre Coupling Efficiency
50. RTU Studentu zinatniskās un tehniskās konferences materiāli 2009
Aleksejs Udaļcovs, Ilya Lyashuk

In fiber-optic transmission systems two types of radiation sources – Light Emitting diodes (LED) and Laser Diodes (LD) - are basically used. To enable that optical signal travels longer distance on the set optical fiber attenuation coefficient, rather than the source radiated power should be higher, but the power that is coupled directly to the optical fiber. With inefficient optical power coupling an almost all emitted optical power might be lost.
