The gage panels are sufficiently complex design objects that must meet many requirements starting from appropriate design style and precisely measurable functional characteristics (stiffness, stress levels under static and dynamic loads, weight etc.) and finishing with minimal pollution of environment. Design styling is less easily measured concepts and frequently is handled informally. The method of imprecision is used to allow for a formal approach to the incorporation of this imprecise information. Unified development environment is used. Geometrical models of an automotive vehicle gage panel are elaborated by SolidWorks (SW) and style is designed by SW PhotoView360. Dynamic and static re-sponses of the gage panel are obtained by SW Simulation and impact to environment is evaluated by SW Sustainability. Due to complexity of FEM models appropriate metamodels are elaborated based on design of experiments. These metamodels are used for multiobjective optimization. Different techniques for shape optimization are compared by solution of two test problems. Dynamic behavior of obtained optimal solution is then verified by analysis of the full FEM model of the gage panel in case of random excita-tions.
