Biofilms, which are formed in presence of fast growing microorganisms, can cause problems in water supply systems. To solve these problems, various methods for water disinfection are used, including electrochemical treatment. During the electrolysis the hardness and electrical conductivity of the solution is decreasing, which is connected due to precipitation of CaCO3 in the solution and on the electrodes. It was determined that during the electrolysis process the pH of the solution is increasing which can be explained by hydrogen discharge on the kathode.
