Occupational Safety Management Aspects and Institutions that Regulate Construction Industry
2012
Jānis Bramanis, Dzintra Atstāja, Janis Naciscionis

The construction sector has one of the worst occupational safety and health records in Europe. The current situation in the construction sector can be a springboard for the establishment of a new system where private companies can be involved in control and surveillance, thus carrying out functions of the eliminated national construction inspectorate or Building Police reintroduced as a form of public building inspectorate. The paper provides recommendations for the improvement of the situation.
