Funded Pillars in the Pension Systems of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania

This paper focuses on the comparison of legal frameworks and performance of funded pillars in the pension systems of the Baltic States. The author places main emphasis on mandatory second pillar schemes, but also touches upon voluntary third pillar characteristics. Comparative analysis of contemporary pension legislation includes eligibility rights, contribution rates, allowable investment strategies, etc. Performance of pension funds is assessed using the comparative analysis of vast amount of statistical data.
