Design Optimization of Passive Balancing Battery Management System
Riga Technical University 54th International Scientific Conference Materials. Section of Power and Electrical Engineering: Digest Book and Electronic Proceedings 2013
Kristaps Vītols

Improvements on a previously designed passive cell balancing system for an electric kart are discussed. Battery management system master controller board is introduced. Two possible approaches of cell measurement error reduction by means of software filtering are proposed, implemented and the results are compared. Discharge of the battery pack is tested and potential optimization of both cell balancer circuit and master controller is discussed. The main problems and functional faults of the system are identified and possible solutions are proposed for future system redesign.
