Mass changes and gas analysis of Polyamide 6, succinite - Baltic amber (in the text amber) and Polyamide 6 filled with 10% of succinite microparticles (named as PA6+10%) were carried out to evaluate these materials behaviour and phase changes during extrusion processing. The infrared spectra and thermogravimetric data for these materials are collected and analysed. Polyamide 6 degrades rigorously above 471°C generating cyclohexanecarboxylic acid methyl ester, 2-hexahydro-azepinone and ammonia. In addition, amber releases methyl cyclopentane at 201°C and a significant amount of methane, CO and CO2 at 431-463°C. Since Polyamide 6 filled with succinite microparticle processing need to be performed at 250°C and higher, the potential thermal degradation of the amber needs to be considered.
