The Use of Remote Sensing Technology for the Passenger Traffic Flow Dynamics Study and Analysis
Transport Means 2014: Proceedings of the18th International Conference 2014
Antons Patļins, Nadežda Kuņicina

At this moment passenger counting in different countries and cities is performed very differently, or not performed at all. There are no clearly defined international standards for public transport passenger flow analysis and, as a result, for system sustainable development. There are a lot of methods and techniques in the World, how it is possible to make passenger flow tracking, but this information is diffused. It can be said, in general, that transport system growing is much faster, than the capacity of the transport network, often without regard to the actual flow of passengers. Current research uses such an estimative scientific method of remote sensing as photogrammetry. In the research authors offer to use this method for passenger traffic counting to further passenger flow studies, analysis and display on the map. It is also offered test example for Riga city.
