Location Based Reminder System with Reusable Ontology
KEOD 2014 : Proceedings of the International Conference on Knowledge Engineering and Ontology Development 2014

This paper provides a description of design of a reminder system that is based on location rather than on time. The system presented in this paper uses a reusable domain ontology model to access knowledge about a domain. The domain ontology is merged with a method ontology model in order to create an application specific ontology. This application ontology is used for communication with the user. It is proposed that using an ontology model enables the application to interpret the user input more flexibly. The reminder is triggered when a user is in close proximity to an establishment which is consistent with what was previously defined in the reminder application by the user with concepts from the domain ontology.
