Ultrahigh-Molecular Weight Polyethylene and Hydroxylapatite-Based Materials for Replacement of Bone Tissue
Mechanics of Composite Materials 1993
Ivars Knēts, L. O. Bunina, Viktors Filipenkovs

The NHAp used for preparation of new composite materials was obtained from the beef bone. The structure of bone tissue before and after deproteinization, and the structure of composite materials based on UHMMPE and NHAp with different volume fractions were studied using scanning electron microscopy. Some characteristics of the mechanical properties of these materials were determined.
