Exploring Power Sources for Self Sufficient Robots via Inspiration from Nature
16th International Symposium "Topical Problems in the Field of Electrical and Power Engineering. Doctoral School of Energy and Geotechnology III" 2017

It makes sense to draw inspiration from nature to solve various challenges, including the problem of picking a suitable power source for a self-sufficient robot. As the investigation shows: Life on earth gains energy by either consuming fuel or absorbing electromagnetic irradiation or by spending internally contained resources. Robots could potentially do the same and each method has its benefits and drawbacks. Tables and graphs summarize the findings and aid in choosing an optimal solution by comparing them by energy/weight ratio, lifespan, price and environmental impact.
