The study deals with the analysis of written text in linguistics from a cognitive perspective. The main emphasis is placed on scientific and technical texts. Textual features as well as an interactive nature of the texts are examined. The author’s perspective is explored and illustrated with examples from written English scientific and technical texts in the field of architecture. The study results have and empirical value. They can contribute to developing translation competences at high professional level. The study outcomes can be used in delivering a course of lectures on text linguistics and academic writing at higher educational institutions.
