This paper is devoted to the investigation of 16 channel novel dense (channel spacing is 50 GHz) wavelength division multiplexed passive optical network (WDM-PON) with three efficient physical chromatic dispersion compensation methods. In this paper, we show that characterization of the CD is vital toward reaching maximum transmission length of high-speed WDM-PON system and ensuring sufficient signal transmission quality. In this paper, we numerically compared dispersion compensating fiber (DCF), fiber Bragg grating (FBG) and optical phase conjugation (OPC) chromatic dispersion compensation methods by using them in pre- and post-compensation schemes. Performance results were evaluated in terms of bit error rate (BER) of received signal.
