In September year 2016 European Commission launched a public consultation on a Directive of the European Parliament and the council establishing the European Electronic Communications Code, that combines all framework directives. The new directive, among other aspects, sets additional requirements on mobile broadband, mapping and Qualities of Service for a fixed and mobile networks. Requirements that should be met for minimal internet speeds and 5G technology implementation times among European Union are also strictly defined. The aim of this paper is theoretically offer and practically investigate the possible implementation of 5G and possible measurements for broadband networks to determine if existing broadband connection would be enough to meet new requirements and user demand for a broadband according with the Directive. The existing LTE network parameters were analysed in comparison with fixed broadband networks. The results of the analysis gave a base to make a conclusions and could be set as a reference for the future 5G implementation for Regulatory authorities and mobile operators.
