One of the main goals of the EU current transport policy is to stimulate technological innovation in order to address transport problem. This context is favourable to the wide use on information and communication technologies (ICT) in public transport, which could improve efficiency, safety, quality and reliability of the service and facilitate attractiveness of public transport, thus further reducing citizens’ dependence on the private car.
