One of the main goals of the EU current transport policy is to stimulate technological
innovation in order to address transport problem. This context is favourable to the wide use on
information and communication technologies (ICT) in public transport, which could improve
efficiency, safety, quality and reliability of the service and facilitate attractiveness of public
transport, thus further reducing citizens’ dependence on the private car.
