The paper considers the main questions of the introduction of electric vehicles into the cities roads and the related to it questions of the development of the necessary infrastructure according to the requirements in energy and construction sectors. The authors considered the experience of the developed countries in the field of infrastructure for the electric vehicles development. A methodology to apply the known experience to the conditions of Latvian traffic system and charging stations is elaborated. The aim of the present research is to develop an algorithm for studying of a low-voltage distribution network in accordance with the needs of charging stations. The authors consider and compare the technical characteristics of transformer substations as well as the testing of the transformer substations to make sure that the methodology of the algorithm allows obtaining a theoretically valid result. The developed algorithm is studied in details and an approach to select the methods of calculations is investigated for the concluding about the capabilities of the existing local networks. A type of model for the charging stations location is selected to study the methodology of the algorithm. The purpose of this model is to define the optimal location of the charging stations and the load of distribution network. The model solves a number of specific tasks and allows the low, medium and high penetration demand for charging. The problem is solved for the optimal algorithm of transport system, where the interaction people’s behaviour, urban infrastructure and the power supply system are used as the main aspects for consideration.
