The electric grid should ensure a balance between the energy generation and the demand of the electricity consumers. In addition, the network capacity must be sufficient to transmit all the requested energy. Unfortunately, the demand for electricity varies considerably. This can cause network congestion. Foreseeing it, the grid operator ensures its reconstruction in advance. The purpose of this document is to create an effective regulation and load balancing scheme that reduces peak loads and maximizes profit for the energy company. The management of the load depends on the possibility to regulate and accumulate electrical energy in the distribution network during the hours when the consumption or the energy price is low and use this energy first of all during the hours when the energy consumption exceeds the power limits or when the energy price is higher, thus ensuring savings for the facility. Energy accumulation can be carried out on the basis of the use of battery energy storage systems. To understand whether or not a selected energy storage device is profitable, a pre-feasibility study should be performed, which includes NPV estimation.
