Conductive lines function as an electric current conductor in a knitted product. Easy care is an essential product feature. Application of water-repellent coating to conductive lines can reduce the negative effect of washing on the durability of smart textiles. The performance of different conductive lines has been tested experimentally. It has been found that the knit density and the line configuration affect changes in electrical resistance. The electrical resistance of the vertical lines increases at a higher rate than horizontal ones and they become electrically non-conductive sooner. Application of an additional coating provides a short-term protection against the effects of washing as it is washed away from the yarn surface. On average, it lasts for 8–9 washings. Application of an additional coating delays damaging of the conductive yarn silver coating. Despite the fact that the coating is washed off the yarn surface gradually, it increases the life of the conductive lines. An additional coating also reduces slipping of float loop yarns out of the knit
