Woodworking hand tools have served as the basis for further development of the woodworking manufacturing. Even in nowadays woodworking hand tools are widely used in wood crafting. The aim of the research is to create structure scheme subdividing the woodworking cutting hand tools, which provides cutting as a main function of tool, in main and subgroups with the common description. The article will provide essential information about data collection, description and grouping principles, as well data selection criteria concerning to the application in woodworking field. The collected data discussed in this paper refers to cutting hand tools mainly used by carpenters and woodcarvers. To achieve the aim authors searched for and analysed the data available in various published and unpublished materials: books, periodicals, museums and museum collections, private collections, internet resources, video materials, has tried tools in their practical work, attended various events which included work with cutting hand tools and tool demonstrations. As the result, the article will contain cutting hand tool main groups divided into subgroups with the description of the main features of tool and working methods with them.
