Quite often centralization is viewed as a means for complexity reduction, as well as a means for achieving higher efficiency. However in reality this not always is true. This literature review examines different aspects of centralization vs. decentralization in the procurement domain. The results of this review give a better insight in to pros and cons of centralization and help to find the ways of proper combination of both centralized and decentralized methods in procurement. While procurement as a specific domain is in focus of the paper, still the results might be interesting also for researchers and practitioners working in other domains where the centralization and decentralization issues are actual.
