Development of Electric Scooter Battery Pack Management System
2018 IEEE 59th International Scientific Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering of Riga Technical University (RTUCON 2018): Conference Proceedings 2018
Kristaps Vītols, Eižens Poišs

The rise of electric transportation includes not only four-wheeled vehicles but two-wheeled personal mobility devices as well. One of such is the electric scooter which can be used for personal as well as commercial use as in this case. The present status of a scooter design and development is described – the need for an in-house designed battery management system is given. A set of commercial monitoring integrated circuits are used in conjunction with central controller and measurement circuitry to perform cell monitoring, balancing, current measurement, charge control and emergency shutdown. Experimental validation of proposed system is given.
