the aim of research is to explore the methods of
electrical power measuring in to non-sinusoidal AC circuits
especially Fast Fourier transformations (FFT) based. The FFT
method can be used for measuring AC electrical power for any
device, signal or system in order to get a more detailed power
spectrum and its harmonic division, which would help analyse
the work of the electrical equipment or system and optimise the
energy used. In comparison to the standard electrical power
measuring method there is a small but constant change in the
measurements gained, that with high electrical energy
consumption could make a significant difference. Investigation of
influence of FFT bin precision to mains frequency also was
performed. A micro-controller based device was developed in
order to perform such tests.
