In dynamic cyber physical systems such as Industry 4.0, ensuring secure and stable operating environment is a top priority. To support reliable
communication in industrial network and prompt elimination of participants
that express malicious behavior, a concept of trust is introduced for Industry 4.0
production facilities through a conceptual trust handling framework. The
framework implies trust phases on node and network level in trust data gathering and trust data assessment phases. Constructs embedded in the framework
support analytical approach to trust, allowing access to production data, revealing security issues in the system and suggesting areas for improvement by
means of sensor data collection and processing, network traffic analysis, access
control mechanisms, and other means.
