The paper discusses and attempts to analyze the impact of the behavior of composite components on the polymer matrix in the manufacture of armor material, including ballistic tests. In order to complete ballistic tests, a 25-layer composite was made with a ceramic-based sandwich structure (hybrid composite) using the vacuum bagging method in the „Formation of composites” laboratory located in Kielce University of Technology. The test results obtained from the ballistic tests from the shooting range were determined by fivefold firing of the prepared laminate on the armor with a 7.62 x 51 mm FMJ full-shell cartridge (according to Polish standard PN-V-8700:2011), as a result of which no penetration was recorded in any of the shots (met the requirements of the bulletproof third-class vests according to NIJ Standard 0108.01 and the first level according to STANAG 4569). The discussed methodology of the hybrid composite produced as armor material can be used only after additional bulletproof tests in an accredited laboratory. And only then it can be assessed whether the armor will actually stop the projectile.
