Improvement of Technology of Operation for Daugavpils Marshalling Station by Building the New Receiving Yard

In this paper is suggested to increase the competitiveness of railway transport by solving the actual challenge – enhancement the reprocessing capacity of Daugavpils station by building the new receiving yard. In this article is explored the current technology of operation for Daugavpils marshalling station before its renovation. The technological aspects of the improved technology of station operation after its reorganization in comparison with the existing one are considered. The disadvantages of the existing technology and the advantages of the new technology of the station operation are described. With the help of mathematical modeling based on the mass service system, the calculation and the analysis are fulfilled for the existing and required reprocessing capacity of the marshalling station. On this basis, proposals for the implementation of the new technology are given, as one of the variants for increasing the reprocessing capacity of the marshalling station.
