Concepts and Practical Application for Distributed Compensation of Earth Fault Current in Latvia’s 20 kV Networks
2019 IEEE 60th International Scientific Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering of Riga Technical University (RTUCON 2019): Conference Proceedings 2019
Vladimirs Šults, Gunars Kalcevs

Over the last years industry and home sector has grown in Latvia. Industry and home sector developed mostly around Riga – capital of Latvia. This caused an expansion of the 20 kV networks therefore appear necessity to build new 20kV networks. The new 20kV network in densely populated areas is built as cable network. Besides since 2011 existing overhead lines which are located in densely populated areas is going to change to cable lines. Increasing of cable lengths brings increment of earth fault capacitive current. Main aim of this article is show distributed compensation application in Latvia’s 20kV networks.
