This paper presents the general approach for current sharing concept using a single DC link current sensor in DC buck or boost converters with any number of phases. Current waveform analysis is performed, the DC link current sensing solution is proposed, and the phase current reconstruction algorithms are derived for converters with different number of phases. It is shown, that this approach can be used within the whole duty cycle range only for converters with prime number of phases, but for converters with composite number of phases, the limitations of the duty cycle range should be considered, or multiple number of current sensors should be used. The results of analysis are valid for converters with uncoupled or coupled inductors and can be used for current balancing or current mode control implementation.
