The paper provides an overview of existing coverage-based functional black-box testing methods in order to choose testing
method for checking student laboratory works in the study subject “Algorithmization and Programming of Solutions” at
RTU Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology. The aim is to increase the quality of the study subject and
to automate student work checking process. It is needed to perform system type of testing in order to check student works.
There are two similar testing methods that can help in checking works – scenario-based and domain testing. Nevertheless,
the methods are similar and in theory should produce similar results, authors of the paper want to confirm if it is true or
not. Practical application and evaluation of these methods will be presented in the paper.
