Nowadays solid wood product decorative surface processing is used in the production of exclusive and personalized products and furniture. Solid wood as a material has several decorative surface properties, which are influenced by the surface quality and wood species. Common features are colour and texture, which form the visual characteristics of solid wood [1]. More specific visual characteristics to the surfaces can be added in several ways by using various methods, tools and machinery for the woodwork technological processing [2]. In this research main focus is on the Three-Dimensional patterns made by wood removal and cutting processes. Materials used in the research are 26mm thick samples of pine (Pinus sylvestris) and oak (Quercus alba) solid wood due to the wide range of use in product and furniture design, as well as differences in physical and visual aspects. Tools and methods used for surface processing are woodworking hand tools- gouges and 3 axis CNC router machine with straight router bits. The practical aim of the experiment is to compare technical quality of the two different solid wood species surfaces after processing and two different processing technologies with various Three-Dimensional patterns. The result of the research shows comparison between pine and oak surface after technological processing with hand tool gouge and CNC router machine. For each species there will be given optimal processing parameters, description of surface processing patterns. Technological execution sequence in schematic figures in both processing technologies. Analysed advantages and disadvantages of each processing method and material. The result of experiment is important for product and furniture craft and manufacturing as well as for woodworking processes in scientific and educative levels when projecting Three-Dimensional patterns for time effective and precise surface processing. 1.
