Adhesive activity of plywood sanding dust (PSD, aby-product of birch plywood manufacture) and virgin polypropylene (PP) composites was investigated.Composite sheets (PP+40wt%PSD) were used as overlay on birch plywood surface. To improve bonding strength and water resistanceof these laminated systems, industrially produced wood-plastic composite (WPC)was modified with maleated polypropylene wax (MAPP) additives.Thisstudyshows that PSDcould be anexcellentreinforcementadditive for wood-plastic composite based on PP.Addition of MAPP as coupling agent gives aconsiderable increase of adhesive activity of WPC. Due to presence of MAPP(up to 4wt%),adhesive strength of laminates and water resistance of laminated sandwich specimens significantly increases. As anexample, adhesivebonding strength canreach2.74N/mm2, which is 4 times higher compared with unmodified WPC adhesives.
