The effectiveness of the integration of various technologies into the system depends on a number of factors that determine the overall payback period. However, in order to increase the efficiency of the use of renewables, they can be used not only for electricity generation but also for other purposes, such as the education process. The authors of the study offer to expand the functional use of the installed equipment and cover the costs of the equipment in two ways. The aim of the study is to assess the effectiveness of photovoltaic panels, both in terms of reducing total electricity expendetures in the training centre and by integrating them into the e-learning process. The tasks are to determine the payback period of the equipment costs using the transfer of the produced electricity to the electricity network and identified to achieve the objective of work: skills education trends and aspects in the training of energy engineers; e - training methods and instrumentary; analysis of the implementation and integration of practical e-learning in the presentation of skills education. The study concluded that by using photovoltaic panels for only electricity supply, the payback period of such equipment can reach up to 66 months. In turn, when using such equipment also in e-training for the improvement of competence education on renewable energy electricity generation equipment, the payback period is reduced and amounts to 5 months.
