The present research is devoted to developing and Simulink modeling of transmitted reference pulse-position mod- ulation (TR-PPM) based ultra-wideband (UWB) communication system where transmitted pulses are encoded by chaotic se- quences. A TR-PPM based UWB impulse radio communication system comprising Gaussian pulse generator, transmitter and receiver subsystems is modeled. After successfully verifying its performance in transmission and recovery of the binary data signal, chaotic spread spectrum and de-spreading systems are modeled and integrated to realize a chaotic UWB communication system. The performance of the chaotic transceiver system is verified using a comparison of transmitted and received chaotic sequences. The results presented in this paper can be used as a guide for modeling advanced UWB communication systems
