The paper covers findings about the role of culture, the definition and the determinants of culture. The different models of culture were compared. This gives an idea of the important aspects of culture and how it affects SMEs (Small and medium enterprises) in internationalization. The role of consumer behavior and consumer culture plays an important role in expansion of the SMEs internationally as they are formed based on culture. The empirical part of the paper reveals the analysis of Expert interview results that comprises the determinants of culture and the various degrees to which it affects internationalization of SMEs, the cultural barriers that SMEs face in internationalization, how to overcome the cultural barriers by adaptation and steps that help analyze consumer culture before expansion. © WMSCI 2021.All right reserved.
