Street/Road Lighting Grid for Electric Vehicle Charging
2022 IEEE 63rd International Scientific Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering of Riga Technical University (RTUCON 2022): Conference Proceedings 2022
Pēteris Apse-Apsītis, Ansis Avotiņš

Today, electric vehicles, especially lightweight, become more and more widespread. Environmental factors force governments to introduce more strict regulations on emissions and, accordingly, support electric transport and decline conventional petrol and diesel-driven vehicles. Observing existing electric installation structures and grids, the street illumination grid looks very suitable also for electrical vehicle charging. The article uncovers such possibility from an engineers point of view - pros and cons - as a response to questions from municipal authorities.
